SUPERSTUDS ?
...... Those concerned about the "dumbing down" of America's young people might enjoy YM
editor Sally Lee's words in its March 1996 issue,". . . we threw mega-bashes in LA and
New York. All of the cuties showed it was awesome! But the coolest part was, they were
all . . . incredibly honored that you guys voted them superstuds." Maybe YM, Seventeen,
and other teen magazines are just trying to have a contest to see who can sound the least
intelligent, but I think the real reason for their apparent lack of anything resembling
cogent thought is that they believe their readers can't understand anything above a
third-grade reading level.
While teen magazines aren't responsible for the downfall of our society, or the cause of
world hunger, they do seem to be playing an increasingly ugly role in lives of today's
teens. Girls obsessed with the latest "fab" styles and "celebs'" opinions should realize
that there exists no real value in a person's outfit on March 23, 1996 and Jonathan
Brandis' thoughts about your zits. Why not read something more substantial, like the
National Enquirer or Soap Opera Digest , and stop worrying about "mega-bashes" and your
magnetic pull on guys. ......

WHO DO YOU THINK IS THE CUTEST AND BEST ACTOR?
I asked both 5th and 6th grade girls who they think is the cutest and best actor. I gave
them the choices of Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Devon Sawa, Jonathan Brandis, and Brad Pitt.
Surprisingly, Devon Sawa is the cutest and Brad Pitt is the best actor.
The result of the cutest was Devon Sawa who received twenty-four votes, Jonathan Taylor
Thomas received twenty-one votes, Brad Pitt received eleven votes, and last, Jonathan
Brandis only received five votes.
The result in who was the best actor was Brad Pitt received twenty-three votes, Devon
Sawa received thirteen votes, Jonathan Taylor Thomas received ten votes, and last once
again, Jonathan Brandis only had four votes. Sorry Jonathan Brandis lovers!

SEAQUEST VS VOYAGE:
Engendered perhaps the most capitalization-confused show ever: seaQuest DSV, which,
with its scientific/security missions and cutting-edge special effects, seemed almost
a remake of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. SQDSV featured a slumming Roy Scheider and
teen-lust-object-of-the-moment Jonathan Brandis, who made the hearts of the Tiger Beat
set go glub, glub, glub -- until the ratings and, subsequently, the show, sank into
the depths of cancellation.
